Nominated for 6 Emmys and 3 Hugo Awards in its five-season run, Babylon 5 changed the landscape of the TV science fiction series genre. Following on the heels of hit series such as Star Trek and Star Trek: The Next Generation, Babylon 5 is unrivaled by any of its peers in its application of Special Effects. The brainchild of J. Michael Straczynski (writer for such shows as Murder She Wrote and Walker, Texas Ranger), the hour-long sci-fi drama series breaks new ground by deploying a five-season storyline that follows the outline of a traditional novel. As such, Babylon 5 is more like a mini-series that lasts five years instead of the usual three to five nights. And also unlike its predecessors, the series showcases original advanced technologies, believable alien characters (who speak alien and not English), and boasts of superb costume and makeup. Premiering in mid-season 1994, Babylon 5 established a solid audience and continues to inspire new generations of fans via syndicated reruns on cable...

Babylon 5 follows the daily events that transpire on Babylon 5, a five-mile long space station from the year 2258. Built by the Earth Alliance, Babylon 5 orbits a lone planet in interplanetary (neutral) space. The setting for an Earthling military post and a transportation hub for businessmen and general travelers, the space station's primary purpose is to provide a safe haven for the airing of differences between the alien races. Similar in function to the United Nations, Babylon 5 is tasked with preserving the peace between the five primary space-traveling civilizations - the Earth Alliance, the Mimbari Federation, the Centauri Republic, the Narn Regime, and the Vorlon Empire. The Babylon 5 DVD (Season 1) features a number of exciting episodes including the series premiere "Midnight on the Firing Line" in which the crew of Babylon 5 awake to find that the Narn have launched an attack on a Centauri colony. I love the series but I wanna know what other people think

Well, let's see, I own nealry every modern game system as well as a multitude of the archaic ones. I just have spent the last three months (minus time for family and work) playing through the Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 campaigns and an additional few months before that on World at War. Then there was even more time dedicated to multiplayer on MW2. Then before that I spent months playing Braid and beating it over and over again perfecting my "speed run" time (which is by no means perfect - only for me). Before that Doom 1 and 2. Fallout 3. Assassin's Creed 1, 2, and BH. Hot Pursuit. Luigi's Mansion. The Seventh guest. All kind of variety of games on different consoles; does that qualify me as neutral?

Honestly, I love the Zelda games. I am a self-proclaimed Zelda fanatic! I love the series. The two originals for the NES were fantastic. Difficult and confusing yes (due to the era though, so we won't count that against the series), but very fun and satisfying to complete. A Link to the Past was phenomenal. Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask also extremely awesome and phenomenal. Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, and Phantom Hourglass were all fantastic as well.

Here's where the honesty comes in though. First off, I have never liked any of the hand held Zelda games (i.e. Minish Cap, Four Swords, both Oracle games, Link's Awakening, etc...), with Phantom Hourglass as the exception. I have only played them because I feel unjustified in calling myself a Zelda fan unless I have played them all.

Second, the formula is so old and so "played" (Hellooooooooo Jerry. La la la...) and I am growing a bit tired of the same thing over and over. This is what set Majora's Mask on the number two pedestal right beneath Ocarina of Time at number one (OoT is number one for the sentimental value it has for me and a few other obvious points as well). Another reason Phantom Hourglass stuck out so much to me is, like Majora's Mask, how different it was without being TOO different.

Yes, every Zelda game has and will always be about a hero saving the world and the damsel in distress, but that's fine; that's what I want. However, Ganon[dorf], Zelda, Link and the Triforce is the same formula over and over again. As much as I love the games, I am tired of that formula.

I think the series is fantastic, but for someone just coming onto it in this day and age, I think after two or three games they will toss the games and the series aside and chalk them up to "boring."

Again, the series is fantastic, but I think it has more value to the long time fans - the people who have been along for the ride since the beginning. But just as the game market is ever changing, the new age gamers are following that change and I think the series appeals a lot less to the gamers of today. If Nintendo doesn't "mature up" and find a way to make their games appeal to the new age, well their truest fans will be all they have left and the world will leave them behind and marooned on the same island as Sega, Atari, Magnavox, and a whole slew of other video game wash outs.
