Wearing Tips For Contact Lens by Robert Hull
Those who are using contact lens for the first time will have a few practical questions regarding the proper way of wearing it and the usage. Here are some tips that will answer your concerns.
The Right Way of Wearing Contact Lens
The best way to place the contact lens is by sticking it to one of your fingers to form the cup that will assume the bulge of your eyeballs. Then, hold it directly against the front of your eyes to you can see the side of the cup. If the edges are flaring out, then it means you are doing it the wrong way.
If you are using the aid of a handling tint, use your fingertip to hold the lens. You will find that the tint of the lens' edge is very visible, which isn't the case if the lens is inverted.
Placing Your Contact Lens
Before applying the lens into your eyes, make sure that your hands are properly cleaned. Avoid using products that might adhere to the surface of the lens and could damage your eyes when used.
Before using, you can try to shake the lens case gently to loosen up the lens in case it gets stuck inside. Never attempt to pull it out using your fingers as it can damage the lens. Once loose enough, rest the contact lens in the palm of your hand and rinse it with the lens solution. After that, you can place it on a dry middle or index finger. Use your other hand to gently pull up your eyelid and pull down your lower lid. Look upward so you can properly position the lens. Make sure to place the lens on the white of the eye, nearest your ear. Allow the lens to settle by slightly rolling your eyes and blinking.
Removing Your Contact Lens
As with placing, you must also wash your hands thoroughly before removing your contact lens. Then, look upwards as you would when applying it. Pull down your lower lid so you can gently maneuver your finger inside the eye to remove the lens. Use your index finger to slightly pinch at the lens and lift it off slowly. It is highly recommended that you clip your nails to avoid hurting your eye in the process as you might accidentally hit the white of the eye instead of the contact lens in the process. Basically, it is all just a reversal of the process of applying the lens into the eye.
There are several devices sold for removing contact lens such as "plungers" but it is very easy to do on your own, provided that you properly follow the steps provided.

How do Lens Reversal Rings work? ?
I'm planning on getting a Nikon D3100 and want to do some macro photography but my budget severely limits me.
so i started looking into reversing my lens. but i don't know ..well ..pretty much anything about this. i looked around and read that you can't use auto function as the lens connectors aren't connected ..understandable ..
but you can't use manual focus also ..is that true ..?
and would i be damaging my lens doing it ..? also ill be having an 18-55mm lens what ring would i need? a 52mm ..?
Poorly, at best. They are inexpensive and work somewhat in a pinch, but I wouldn't recommend them for main use. Your better attempt would be to search out some non-automatic focus Extension Tubes. These work much better and easier with less chance of damage to your lens or body. Reverse rings mount to the Camera Body on one side and the Filter Screw threads on the other. That leaves the Auto Focus contacts and internal lens element out front, where they were never intended to be, gathering dirt, dust, moisture and scratches during use. Not my idea of a fun thing! Inexpensive macro extension tubes can be had for most major brands of DSLR, like Nikon. They come in sets, usually of 2 or 3 lengths that can be combined to get a larger picture / closer to the subject. There are sets that support auto focus and sets without the electronic contacts to support that function. You would simply install one or more of them between the camera body and lens in normal position and use the camera as usual, without auto focus if the tubes don't support it. Non AF tubes can run as little as $100 for a set of three with good coverage and of decent quality. Some AF tubes fit in that budget also. Have a look:
